Definitely my favorite way to catch Carp! There’s nothing like seeing a big swirl round your feet, then watching your float slowly sail away!
It’s awesome and something you should do everytime you go fishing.
The last hour of light is usually the best time to catch Carp, or any species of fish, right at your feet.
Why the last hour? Continue reading →

What better way to spend a few hours than on the banks of the River Ribble and Calder fishing for Grayling and Chub.
It was a freezing day, all my usual fishing lakes had completely frozen over, so off me and fishing partner Steve went to some flowing water.

Here I am at Manor House Farm fisheries in Nateby on a cold February day..
Me and pal Steve Welsh set our stall out to catch the Roach and Bream using chop worm and caster.
We decided to use the pole for better presentation with light lines of 2lb and small hooks (18-20).
There are plenty of fish at Manor House Farm and it was no stop from start to finish.

Following on from the comment that our friend Matt Hayes left last week, i thought it would be better to let you see how i tackle those carp on the pole. So off i went with my interesting fishing buddy, Mr Welsh, to the fantastic Crane Hall Fisheries in Out Rawcliffe. The perfect venue to demonstrate how to land carp on light gear while fishing for the smaller the species.
Check out these photos and video of the whole fishy affair…Enjoy

Couldn’t believe it when i was looking through my blog posts and came across a comment from non other than one of my fishing heroes, “Matt Hayes“! Check out the comment here http://fishingjunkie.co.uk/?page_id=2 Basically Matt was asking me how to handle big carp on the pole. Sods law that when fishing for Roach and Bream that you will, at some time, hook a whopper..
Here was my response to his question: Continue reading →
Awesome session at the legendary Woodfold Farm Fisheries with my fishing side kick, Steve.. Fishing off the island directly across from Steve, i baited up great margin swim just under a big over hanging tree.. Now, i know i am usually a pole man, however, there is no way on earth you will stop these Woodfold Carp with a pole! They have awesome power and need to be treated with respect. In this vid i show you how i did it.. Continue reading →

Here’s a question
When the carp don’t bite, what do you do?
Most divvy boys, or arm chair anglers will just sit there and read the paper.
It’s a crying shame! Especially when there can be some fantastic sport had on the other species that frequent your fave fishy spots..
So that’s exactly what I did on my favourite North West syndicate water.. Continue reading →
Another superb day’s fishing at the fabulous Tewitfield Fishery in Carnforth. Testing out my new Shimano Purist rod on these amazing Rudd was an absolute pleasure..Just look at the size of these Rudd, they are (excuse my french) bloody awesome! Other top catches on the day included some fine Tench from Steve and some clonking Perch from Beany.. My camera came along this time to capture some of the action, take a seat on your Korum Chair, settle in and enjoy this short video..(this is the first video of its kind so please don’t knock the camera skills!)
